As we have chosen a
punk rock song for our music video, and it is therefore very important to look at a number of different music videos within the
genre to understand the conventions and how this is portrayed in a video.
Sleeping with sirens is an
American Post Hardcore band, similar to Pierce The Veil. The song 'Do It Now, Remember It Later' is about how
rock stars can do what they want, which is illustrated in the music video.

As the song begins, we see the post hardcore band playing their
guitars and drums which shows they are an
organic artist. Their
image also fits in to the genre, with the lead singer having
long hair and tattoos. We can also tell that the genre is hardcore due to the
tone in their voice, some words are
screamed in order to emphasise the lyrics. The song is about how the punk rock band can do what they want and nothing can stop them. therefore one could say that the
target audience ties in with
late aged teenagers, who
rebel when they can. This is portrayed in the visuals as they
graffiti a wall, driving a car "
wild in the streets", and
vandalising the streets,
Huffing mystery substances and being high intensity. We also see
slow motion visuals of the members of the band, one by one, jumping into a lake. When a
cross cut is made to the 'Werd News', they joke when they say the band have had a full meal, and then they swim without waiting an hour. this shows that they are going
against social norms in society and they use their punk rock image to do what they want. This appeals to the
teenage audience as they share similarities with the actions of the band. Their star image is also important when targeting the teenage audience. the lead singer has long hair, and has tattoos. The band also
rock out in the car, and although they have seat belts on, we can see that they are acting in a rebellious way, by
driving recklessly and having a laugh together. The news also report on the band doing
drugs which also is part of their
star image. There are a number of
cut to the beats, cross cutting to the band driving and doing rebellious activities which therefore
amplifies the lyrics to the visuals.
